Summary
Cuts Mobile is an iOS video editor that runs entirely on your iPhone. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your videos, transcripts, edits, or usage data on Cuts-controlled servers. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, advertising IDs, or any third-party SDKs that do those things.
What stays on your iPhone
- Source video files you record in-app or import from your library.
- Whisper transcripts and word-level timestamps.
- Edits, cuts, color, subtitles, and render settings.
- Render outputs and intermediate caches inside the app sandbox container.
What may leave your iPhone
Nothing — unless you explicitly choose to share an exported video through iOS's share sheet (e.g., to TikTok, Reels, Photos, AirDrop, or Messages). When you do, the sharing app handles the file from there under its own privacy terms. Cuts Mobile itself never connects to a network.
The Whisper transcription model and the on-device language model ship inside the app bundle, so transcription and filler/retake refinement work entirely offline from first launch.
Permissions Cuts Mobile asks for
iOS will prompt you for these the first time you use a feature that needs them. Each one is used only for the purpose listed:
- Camera — only when you tap "Open camera" to record a take in-app. Footage is written to the app's container, not to your camera roll, until you choose to export.
- Microphone — only when you record video in-app, so the take has audio.
- Photo Library (read) — only when you tap "Import video" to pick an existing clip. Cuts Mobile only reads the file you explicitly select.
- Photo Library (add) — only when you tap "Save to Photos" at export time. The exported video is written; nothing else is touched.
You can revoke any of these at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
What we do not do
- We do not run any servers that receive your data.
- We do not include analytics SDKs (no Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, etc.).
- We do not include advertising SDKs.
- We do not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not request App Tracking Transparency.
- We do not track you across apps or sessions.
- We do not collect crash reports remotely. Apple's built-in crash reporter may collect crashes if you opted into Apple's program in iOS Settings — that's separate from Cuts Mobile and governed by Apple's policy.
- We do not share, sell, or rent any data to anyone, because we don't have any to share.
API access disclosures
Per Apple's Required Reason API requirements (declared in
PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy):
- UserDefaults — used to persist your in-app preferences. Reads/writes happen only inside the app's sandbox container.
- File modification timestamps — used to invalidate caches when a source file changes. Only files Cuts Mobile has explicit access to are inspected.
Children
Cuts Mobile is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone — including children — because we don't collect data at all.
Your control
- Revoke camera, microphone, or Photos permissions in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security at any time.
- Delete the app to remove its sandbox container and everything inside it. iOS removes both at the same time.
- Offload the app from iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Cuts Mobile to free space without losing your settings.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Cuts Mobile handles data, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Until then, the answer to "what does Cuts Mobile do with my data?" remains: nothing.
