How can we help?
Last updated 2026-09-01
Cuts Studio is built and maintained by one person. Every email goes straight to me — no support queue, no ticketing system. I usually reply within one business day.
Before you write
If you're hitting an issue, sending these along makes it much faster to fix:
- A short description of what you tried and what went wrong.
- Your macOS version (Apple menu → About This Mac).
- Your Cuts Studio version (Cuts Studio → About Cuts Studio).
- If a render or transcript failed: the source file's resolution, codec, and length if you know them.
- Optionally a screenshot of the error or the panel that misbehaved.
Frequently asked
Which Macs are supported?
Cuts Studio runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The on-device transcription and language model work best on M-series chips because they use the Neural Engine.
Where do exports save?
By default, into the folder you choose in the Export panel. There's no hidden cache of your renders — everything stays under the path you picked.
Why isn't my video transcribing?
Transcription needs an audio track. If your file is video-only or the audio is very low, Whisper produces no output. Try a clip with clear spoken audio. If you still see nothing, write in.
Can I use Cuts with Final Cut, Resolve, or Premiere?
Yes — export the rendered video, or export the SRT subtitle track, and import either into your timeline. The roundtrip happens at the file level. There's no XML/AAF interchange yet.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Editing runs entirely offline: the transcription model ships inside the app bundle, and the Editor's contextual cuts run on Apple Intelligence where the Mac has it, so you can work on a plane, a train, or a Mac with the network turned off. The one thing that needs a connection is optional: on a Mac without Apple Intelligence you can download Gemma 4 E2B (about 3.6 GB) once, and it runs locally after that.
How do I reset Cuts Studio?
Quit the app, then delete ~/Library/Application Support/Cuts/
and (if you installed from the App Store) the sandbox container at
~/Library/Containers/com.brenno.cutsdesktop/. Re-launch
and you're starting fresh.
Found a bug?
Email it. Include the steps to reproduce and the version. I track every report personally.
Got a feature request?
Also welcome. The roadmap is shaped by what users actually run into, so a one-line note about why you need something carries more weight than a long spec.
Privacy
Cuts Studio doesn't collect any data and doesn't include analytics. The only server it ever contacts is Hugging Face, and only if you ask it to download the optional local model. The full breakdown lives in the Privacy Policy.
